Binary and Boolean videos on mathcentre: update your urls/embeddings 14 January 2021
Posted 14th January 2021
The binary and Boolean videos have been transcoded from MOV to MP4 so they are smaller and will also play in all browsers. The links have been updated.
The old files are still on mathcentre at the same url but they are not linked to from the website. Any links or embeddings of these videos you have will still link to the MOV file, but students may not be able to view this in their browser. These files were also very large and may be very difficult to download/watch for students with restricted bandwidth.
The video Binary 08: 2's complement notation was found to be missing. This has now been added in mp4 format.
Action needed: Please update your links and embeddings, this is not as simple as changing the file extension to mp4. Please see https://www.mathcentre.ac.uk/staff/topics/#h95
Matrices videos: update your urls/embeddings 12 January 2021
Posted 12th January 2021
Flash is no longer supported. We had only a small number of Flash videos remaining on mathcentre and these were all on the topic of matrices. These videos have now been transcoded to MP4 and the links updated.
The old files are still on mathcentre at the same url but they are not linked to from the website. Any links or embeddings of these videos you have will still link to the flash file, but students will not be able to view this in their browser.
Action needed: Please update your links and embeddings, this is not as simple as changing the file extension to mp4 as we have also fixed incorrect aspect ratios on most of the videos. Please see https://www.mathcentre.ac.uk/staff/topics/#h95
